Consultation launched for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park masterplan

Jul 21, 2022

We have launched our consultation on the masterplan for the next phase of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park – a world-class community for the health, wellbeing, sport and activity sectors.

The Park is already home to a range of valued community and wellbeing organisations, including the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, iceSheffield, Oasis Academy Don Valley and UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.

As Sheffield City Council’s development partner for the next phase of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, we have spent the last 12 months finalising our masterplan and are now in a position to share our vision for the evolution of the Park.

Covering up to 1 million sq ft of business space, the plans will create thousands of high-value jobs, focused on the health, wellbeing, sport and activity sectors. New public realm, including widespread landscaping and seating areas will boost wellbeing for residents and visitors, providing spaces for the community to come together.

Following a public consultation in Summer 2021 to find out how people felt about their local area and the vision for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the team wants to showcase how the plans have considered local people’s views and provide further opportunities to get involved. It’s also a chance to gain a better understanding of the design, timescales, and the range of benefits to the local community that the development could provide.

Additionally, we recently submitted an application for the new world-leading National Centre for Child Health Technology aimed at developing new health technologies to address key issues in children’s health and marking Sheffield out as global leader in technology for pediatrics and child health.

The team will be holding various consultation events, including two in-person drop in sessions and a separate online event as follows:

  • Tuesday 19th July – 11.30am-1.30pm – Courtyard Café, 620 Attercliffe Road, Sheffield, S9 3QS

  • Tuesday 19th July – 3.00pm-6.00pm – English Institute of Sport, Coleridge Road, Sheffield, S9 5DA

  • Thursday 21st July – 6.00pm-7.30pm – Online webinar

Local people can register or find out more by visiting the consultation website or emailing the consultation team.

Nicola Bulley, Group Head of Marketing & Communications, commented:

“The success of the Park lies in the success of the people in its surrounding communities. We want as many people as possible to have a say in what we’re proposing for the Park, enhancing quality of life in Darnall and Attercliffe.

“Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park plans have healthcare outcomes, education and job opportunities, and economic growth at the heart, but we need the community’s feedback to ensure that we’re delivering the best possible scheme for generations across Sheffield.”
