Ping Pong Parlour returns to the Brunswick

Feb 22, 2022

Visitors to the Brunswick in Scarborough will once again be able to take a break from shopping and enjoy a free game of table tennis as the centre welcomes back the pop-up Ping Pong Parlour.

Funded by Table Tennis England, Ping Pong Parlours are ‘pop-up’ spaces filled with table tennis tables to provide a fun, accessible venue for passers-by to play ping pong for free as well as creating a buzz in shopping centres.

The pop-up Ping Pong Parlour, which is located in unit 12, next to Trespass, boasts three tables available for public use seven days a week, free of charge.

Bats and balls are also provided, so players can simply just turn up and play without the need to book in advance.

As the owner of the Brunswick, we are hoping that the Ping Pong Parlour will not only attract more people to shop at the Brunswick, but will also encourage them to keep active.

Stephen Marriott, Centre Manager at the Brunswick, said:

“We are delighted to be hosting this pop-up Ping-Pong Parlour in the Brunswick once again and would like to thank Table Tennis England for their support.

“It is a great sport that anyone can play, no matter age or ability and we hope that by providing this facility within the centre it will not only attract more visitors into the Brunswick, but also encourage people to get active.”

Jade Griffiths, Partnerships and Insight Officer at Table Tennis England, added:

“Pop-up Ping Pong Parlours form part of our vision to inspire people to get active and lead happier, healthier lifestyles by introducing table tennis into the places they already spend time in their everyday lives.

“The project has seen great success, with the project seeing nearly 50 Parlours popping up nationwide at its peak, and we are very excited to bring the project back to the Brunswick!”
